I don’t know about you, but this holiday has become even more fun since becoming a mom. Although I do love going out with the hubby if we get a chance to snag a sitter, there’s nothing like decorating your house with your kiddos and making sure that your kids are enjoying the holiday as well. Plus the kid in me loves that I get to decorate and celebrate the holiday for fourteen days instead of one.
Since the beginning of the month, I’ve been celebrating LOVE with my kids by making sure I pack them a heart-shaped sandwich each morning in their lunch for school as well as a Love Joke of the day with an added bonus of a small chocolate heart. We call it the 14 Days of Love and we’re having so much fun with it. I love that they come to me every morning excited and trying to guess what the joke of the day will be, or coming home after school letting me know that they shared the joke with some friends at school and they all loved it.
There are so many different ways we to celebrate Valentine’s Day with your kids and you don’t need to spend a ton of money doing it. The dollar store always has an amazing section each year filled with items that can make Valentine’s for your family so special. That’s where I picked up my heart-shaped cookie cutters to make the heart sandwiches for my kiddos.
I’ve used that heart cookie cutter a number of times so far this month and not just on sandwiches or cookies. I’ve also made these cute Watermelon Heart Pops that are super easy to make that even your kids can make them. All you need is a watermelon, a heart cookie cutter and a few cake pop sticks.
This is a great healthy treat for your little ones and would even be a great snack to bring in to your child’s class to share with their classmates. The kids will love it. Not only would they love eating watermelon on a stick, but they’ll love that it’s shaped like a heart as well.
A super easy, kid-friendly and healthy snack that the entire class will love and the teacher will thank you!
