This particular punch was only made on special occasions, so it was a treasured treat…the perfect way to cool down on a hot day. So in honour of the first day of summer finally arriving, I’m sharing it with you to enjoy at your next family gathering. The sherbet makes this punch oh-so-pretty and a lovely drink to serve at a party. (If you find it too sweet, simply increase the amount of water to taste and leave out the sherbet.)
Fab Frugal Mama’s Family Punch
- 1 can* frozen limeade
- 1 can* frozen lemonade
- 1 can* frozen pulp-free orange juice (you may substitute 1 litre of fresh orange juice)
- 6 cans of water
- 1 litre of ginger ale
- 6 scoops of rainbow sherbet/sorbet (optional)
- Fresh strawberries or raspberries for colour (optional)
* 355 ml / 12 oz can
Sharing something I enjoyed as a kid with the next generation is my way of connecting them to the past. Be it my grandma’s banana bread, our annual Kris Kringle cookies (cut out in Christmas shapes) or this fun punch, all of these things add up to wonderful family memories that are cherished and passed on through the years. Parent tip: to make an adults-only version, add regular or citrus-infused vodka.
