One of my favourite colours, that never fails to put me in a good mood, is purple.  So I was pleasantly surprised when international colour authority, Pantone, chose Radiant Orchid – a warm purple hue with pink undertones – as the 2014 “Colour of the Year”.

Since this trend carries over into the realms of fashion, home décor and textiles, and is almost universally flattering, it’s the perfect choice to amp up your wardrobe this year. I scoured some of my favourite online retailers to find inexpensive pops of purple (and one splurge!) to update your wardrobe in 2014. Here are some of my picks…

If bright colours are outside of your comfort zone and your wardrobe consists of mostly neutrals, try incorporating Radiant Orchid by way of a scarf or belt. Small accessories afford you the opportunity to try out a trend without investing a lot of money.

I love this colour and think you will, too, so give it a try! Here’s to a more radiant you in 2014!
