Despite spring getting off to a slow start, the reality is that summer is almost here. And, unless you’ve already done it, you’ll soon be wading through a sea of clothing from seasons past, trying to figure out what to keep and what you need to update this year’s wardrobe.
The floral trend is huge this year – and is one of my favourites – so I’ve purchased two inexpensive floral-patterned pieces to add to my closet. But, instead of spending a lot of money on clothing, I’m going to stretch my wardrobe budget and invest in some on-trend accessories. If you figure out which styles and colours work for you and stick with them, you’ll wear them for years to come. And, even if you’re not a fan of florals, don’t fret – there are lots of options. This month, I’ll show you some accessories to get you through the summer in style… ranging from modern to classic and sweet to sassy. They pack a punch, but not to your budget!
Large gems are here to stay. They make such a bold impression and can liven up even the simplest of little black dresses. Add in a pinch of iridescence, and a nod to the season’s big floral trend, and you have a winner! (necklace andring, Forever21)
Over the past few seasons, gold has been in the spotlight, so if you’re looking to make an impression, this striking set is for you. Pair it with navy blue or any of the season’s hottest brights, like coral and turquoise, for maximum impact. (necklace, H&M; cuff, Forever21)
Bright & Beachy
I love items that do double-duty, and this sarong is no exception. Worn as a scarf or a beach cover-up, and paired with a set of bright bangles, the fun colours and summery appeal will leave you dreaming of summer long after beach season ends. (sarong, H&M; bangles, Laura)
Cool & Trendy
The classic curb chain takes on a whole new persona when it’s super-sized and lacquered in mint green. Add a complementary bracelet with a quirky mix of pearls and sweetly punk-inspired spikes, and you’ve got a few of the season’s hottest trends covered!
Large cocktail rings and bright jewel tone necklaces are not for shrinking violets, but they are extremely versatile. So go out on a limb, because wearing these whimsical pieces will make any woman feel a bit more outgoing. (necklace andring, Forever21)
This Maxi Pearl Necklace puts a spin on a timeless classic, making it the perfect addition to your wardrobe for almost any occasion. Pair it with this scarf (worn as a shawl; available in six colours), and it’s the ultimate in versatile dressing.
By the way, the name of this scarf isn’t a lie…it can be worn 6 ways! See them all here.
No matter what your style, I hope these budget-friendly ideas will get you in a (stylish) summer state of mind. Enjoy!
