When I was pregnant with my first child, my thoughts automatically turned to cute blankets and nursery furniture; baby leg warmers and chic diaper bags. Basically, I went into ‘shopping Mama’ mode. I had always loved to shop and now I had a legitimate reason for doing more of it.

The only problem was, I had no clue where to start.

For the first time in my life, I was out of my league when it came to shopping! That is, until a friend of mine recommended I visit Moms to Be and More in Toronto.

From the minute I entered the store, I knew I had found a great resource. Their broad range of products and helpful staff were reasons I continued to go back time and again. When I needed a Grobag for my baby, I bought it there. When I needed help deciphering the huge amount of car seat information I had seen online, they were the ones who helped me figure it all out.

So, it seemed like a no-brainer that they should be featured as the December boutique of the month!

Moms To Be and More

Moms To Be and More opened their doors almost 20 years ago, and they pride themselves on their product knowledge and the ability to educate customers in a pressure-free environment. They are a fabulous one-stop-shop for everything a parent could need. Their selection of strollers, car seats, gear, layette, nursing undergarments, mealtime essentials and everything in between, is astonishing. They boast nearly 20,000 products, with more than 12,000 of them available online. And, because they are such a large, well-established store, many brands choose to give them product exclusives. Some current ones are the Stokke Trip Trap Complete Set, the new Maclaren Quest All Black stroller (an east coast exclusive) and the Monte Tesoro Glider.

They carry some of the best furniture brands for your little one’s nursery, too, including Natart, Dutailier and Monte, all of which use eco-friendly fabrics and finishes, and are made in Canada.

Some of my favourite products from their website include comforters, blankets, pillows and lamps (shown below fromLolli Living; KidCo pressure gates (the best on the market that won’t wreck walls; I have many!!); Duux humidifiers (I’ve heard great things about these, plus they’re cute); and Mally Bibs (the only bib you’ll ever need).

But what stands out – apart from the amazing selection of products and friendly, knowledgeable staff – is their incredible commitment to community. Moms To Be and More works with four brand partners (Uppababy, Nartart Fine Furnishings, Baby Bjorn and Britax Car Seats) to make a significant contribution to Sick Kids Hospital in Toronto. In their first year, they gave more than $20,000! In addition, the owner of the store, Karen Judd, personally donates her time each year on a mission with Mission to Haiti Canada. They have an ongoing fundraiser that also supports that cause; gently used shoes are collected (offering a $1 coupon to customers for each pair donated) and they are sent over to Haiti a couple of times a year, along with containers full of supplies.
