This program is all the talk among urban mamas who are feeling a little “babied out.” That’s because the mission at Moms in the City is to provide moms a way to connect to the world outside. Yay! “As mothers, we often get too preoccupied with what is going on inside our homes,” says Laurin Mayer, who came up with the concept with her old college chum Jordan Maher. “Most traditional baby programs are more about the baby.” Thus, Moms in the City offers visits to art galleries and stroller-friendly walking tours (the Distillery District was a big hit). Child care providers, trained in first aid, come along on all excursions to change a diaper or two or to help lug all the baby gear. The new mommy luncheon/speaker series (mentioned above) includes topics such as “health conscious nursery design” and dealing with overbearing grandparents (sure to be a sellout).
