When a store has been in business for over 30 years, you know they’re doing something right. This month’s featured boutique opened in 1982 and is still going strong today!
Mini Circuit Wheels for Kids in Toronto, Ontario started out selling, servicing and renting battery powered ride-on bikes and cars. But, over the years, they have expanded their inventory to include some of the best brands and most unique toys around.
The moment you enter Mini Circuit, you feel like a kid in a candy store. Every nook and cranny of the store is chock full of the cutest, funkiest, most retro and, overall, amazing toys around! From the fabulous displays of Schleich figurines, fun dress-up clothes and diecast cars, to the endless selection of construction vehicles and their huge wall of puzzles and games, you’ll be hard-pressed to leave there empty-handed.
Mini Circuit truly has something for everyone – and every budget. Owner Nannette Bunting is not only friendly and knowledgeable, but she’s also a master at choosing the best products at every price point, with a focus on quality and value. She is a big proponent of toys that encourage creativity and development of the imagination, so 90% of the toys she carries are “hands-on” toys (not electronic). And, some of the best in this category come from European brands like Estia, Siku, Haba and Gluckskafer (all from Germany), Petitcollin (France), Dantoy (Denmark), Moulin Roty and Djeco (France), all of which Mini Circuit stocks. They also carry the complete lines of Schleich and Bruder toys, and a wide selection of authentic musical instruments, such as pianos, drum kits, guitars and more. (Many stores will carry toy versions of instruments, but these are real, high-quality instruments sized for little people.)

Some of my favourite picks would have to be the Sterntaler plush toys/puppets, the ride-on vintage look fire truck (although any of their vehicles are drool-worthy!), their selection of Haba play food, as well as a myriad of Djeco products – sweet change purses, adorable wooden shelf units and cool construct-yourself dump trucks and cranes (shown below).

It would be so easy to while away the afternoon in Mini Circuit… there is something interesting and fun around every corner. And, despite the huge product selection, Nannette and her staff make a point of reading the books and playing the games that they carry, so they have first-hand knowledge of the items they sell – which is no small feat! (Bonus: they also stock a selection of French books and games for the children who attend French schools in the area.)
Mini Circuit’s toy selection is impressive, but they haven’t forgotten their roots. Their selection of mini ride-on vehicles is extensive, and definitely sets them apart from the competition. They even offer rental vehicles and other items for parties, community events, company picnics and more. In fact, they have very generously donated the use of their motorized ride-ons for local fun fairs in the past, and like helping out in the community whenever possible.
If you live in the Greater Toronto Area, you should check out Mini Circuit for yourself. For those that aren’t able to visit in person take a peek at their website, although, if there’s something you’re looking for that you don’t see online, give them a call… they’re always happy to help!
