As a busy Mom, I look for a lot of things in a baby boutique – great selection, unique products, amazing customer service and, of course, a fabulous web presence doesn’t hurt!
I discovered this month’s featured store, Lusso Baby, in the oddest of places – Facebook! With over 8,000 fans on both Facebook and Twitter, and 1,100+ on Pinterest, this is a company that not only takes baby gear seriously, but social media and customer service as well. They’ve built up such a loyal fan base because they have decided it’s important to be everywhere their customers are – including online.

I’ve said this before, but it’s forever true – as a parent, it’s easy to feel overwhelmed when preparing for baby. That’s why owner and life-long Vancouver area resident Shima Jivadi opened Lusso Baby in 2009. Her goal was to carry a collection of carefully handpicked and innovative products that she feels will make journey of parenthood more manageable and stress-free.
Huge shoe selection at North Vancouver store
There are two retail locations in the Vancouver area, which are well known for carrying the most functional, yet stylish, items in every category – including eco-friendly and sustainable feeding items, modern furniture and décor (items such as mini cribs + bedding, which are hard to find in Canada; Million Dollar Baby, DaVinci, Babyletto, Nurseryworks and Duc Duc furniture, Franklin & Ben products and Bla Bla Dolls), and stylish clothing and shoes for children up to 10 years old. In fact, they carry the largest collection of hard-to-find high end clothing brands on the North Shore, so if you want to splurge, go there for Burberry, IKKS, Hugo Boss, DNKY, Billie Blush, Lili Gaufrette, Little Marc Jacobs, Chloe and more. And for those times when your little one just wants to relax, there’s OM Home – a line of kids’ PJs that are made in Canada using organic cotton and printed with stylish motifs. (I wish they were made in adult sizes!)

While many items they carry are high end, you’ll find a fantastic selection of products in all price ranges. I especially love the cute, functional placemats by Modern-Twist ($29.99 for placemat & 6 markers) that double as an art canvas to keep your little one busy at mealtime. The best part? It wipes clean and is ready for their next masterpiece!
It’s no secret that I’m a big fan of buying local whenever possible and it’s nice to know that Lusso Baby, being a Canadian company themselves, is proud to offer Canadian made items such as the Bamboobino hooded bath towel andhair accessories from local company Olilia. (I practically drooled when I saw their gorgeous creations; some are very decadent!) It’s nice to see products on the shelves that you know are special and made with love.
Supporting local brands is important, but Shima and her wonderful staff know that a store is much more than a place to buy things – it provides the opportunity to build a supportive and engaging community. That’s why Lusso Baby proudly gives back to local charities like the Food Bank and Family Services, among others. And to better support parents, they offer workshops, networking events, and their Baby Concierge Service.
If you’re on social media, take a moment to connect with Shima and her team! They will be happy to answer any questions and you’ll enjoy all of their fun posts, too.
Or, if you live in the Vancouver area, stop by either of their two locations, where you’ll find a welcoming atmosphere and beautiful surroundings… as well as a ton of personalized service, helpful advice and, of course, great products!
