Nestled on a historic strip of Queen Street East in Toronto’s Riverside community, you’ll find Little Peeps, the children’s boutique that all the locals (and anyone else who’s in-the-know) flock to. It’s the kind of store you’ve dreamed of – beautiful products from Canada, the U.S. and Europe, many of which are handmade, with a focus on eco-conscious, distinctive or hard-to-find brands. The selection is diverse, and you’ll find items in all price ranges. With everything from pacifiers and feeding gear to beautiful clothing, shoes, toys and crafts, this isn’t your typical children’s store! In business since July 2009, owner Alyssa Dahl wanted to offer customers something different, that would set her apart from the competition – and she has succeeded. Great thought and care is taken in choosing the right products for her store, and it shows.
Boasting Padraig slippers (handmade in Vancouver), Djeco products (France), toys from Moulin Roty (France), Mailegand Franck Fischer (Denmark) and Yellow Label (U.S.; fair-trade), Soil hats, Little Hero capes, boots from Hunter andOld West, Sophie and Lili dolls and shoes from Easy Peasy (handmade in France), they’re sure to have something that will make you drool! They also carry Educo toys, Bogs boots, Minnetonka moccasins, clothing by Red Fish, nursery décor by Streamline, modern kids products from Dwell Studio and so much more.
The product lineup is phenomenal, but so is the service and atmosphere. Alyssa and her staff are extremely helpful and will gladly help you choose the perfect gift, all the while making you feel right at home. From time to time, Little Peeps hosts free children’s events at the store, too. Sign language workshops and Mom and Baby dance classes are a huge hit with the baby and toddler crowd, so be sure to “like” their Facebook page for advance notice of fun events and other promotions.
