This summer, COVID has thrown a huge monkey wrench into families’ plans. Overnight camps are cancelled and many day camps are, too (or the programs have been shortened). But most parents still have to work, so what are the kids supposed to do? If you have older kids, we’ve got the perfect thing to keep them busy and engaged – online photography camp from Kids Photography Academy!
Kids Photography Academy was started by Janet Pliszka, a professional photographer (and mom!) whose aim is to spark passion, confidence, and curiosity in kids. She believes that photography helps kids feel connected. This connection to more than technology helps them feel like they have a place in the world, that their voice matters and they belong.
Learning the art of photography is beneficial to kids in many ways…
- moves their bodies and minds
- reveals unique perspectives and ways of seeing
- encourages self expression
- connects kids to themselves, others and the world around them
- strengthens children’s decision making skills
- creates a tool for family conversation
- teaches a skill that can grow with them
Kids Photography Academy (KPA) is proudly Canadian and has been featured on CBC and CTV. KPA excels at engaging young peoples’ creativity and encourages them to experiment from a place of play instead of pressure. That sounds good to me! After four months of isolation, I think kids could use a lot more creativity and a lot less stress this summer. 💗
If your tween or teen needs a fun, engaging and educational activity to participate in this summer, check out KPA’s courses, camps and more.
