The best children’s stores have a few things in common – one being the ability to procure the best goods from around the world, with a focus on sourcing as many outstanding local products as possible.  This is something that Dandelion Kids, in lower mainland Vancouver, has been doing since 2004.

Dandelion Kids

Visitors to Dandelion Kids’ two retail locations (and website shop) will love items from Canadian brands such as Hatley, Native Shoes, Suncoat Nail Polish and Earth Baby Organic clothing, as well as high quality products from Europe and the U.S., including noppies clothing, Snurk bedding, toys from Hape and Janod, Little Twig natural bath & body products and Tea clothing, to name a few.

Their website is a feast for the eyes, with gorgeous kids’ clothing and shoes from brands that are known for being fashion-forward, yet comfortable and durable. With an emphasis on eco-friendly options, many of the clothes they carry are made of organic cotton or bamboo, using inks and dyes that are safe for your child and the environment.

Here are some of my favourite website picks…

Earth Baby Organic Coveralls are super cute and come in fun prints (and solids) that any kid – or parent – would love. Here’s to the ease of one-piece dressing!

Dandelion Kids

These beautiful fringe moccasin boots, from local company Little Feathers, have Velcro at the back for ease of getting on and off, yet they stay on baby’s feet.

For all of the future firefighters and ballerinas out there, this Snurk bedding is just plain cool!

Dandelion Kids

I’m a huge fan of TOMS shoes, especially this robot print (top) and crochet glitter pair (below).

Dandelion Kids

These shadow puppets from moulin roty are the perfect gift for a child who loves dramatic play or storytelling. Bedtime has never been so fun!

Dandelion Kids

Hatley’s umbrellas, like this adorable dino design (below), are sure to appeal to any kid. (Heck, even I want one!)

Dandelion Kids

When I think of Tea clothing, the first thing that comes to mind is beautiful girls’ clothing, but they make totally rad boys’ clothing, too! I especially love their fun printed t-shirts, like this scooter design, below.

Dandelion Kids

Suncoat water-based nail polish (made in Guelph, Ontario) is perfectly safe for little fingers. This fabulous kit contains 10 colours, so there’s something for everyone!

Dandelion Kids

Djeco’s mobiles, like this traffic design below, are beautiful works of art. They can be used as décor in a little one’s room for years after they outgrow the need for a mobile.

Dandelion Kids

These adorable backpacks from Janod would make kids of all ages smile! The pack’s structured body makes it easy for little ones to carry (not too big or bulky), and cool details like the animals’ ears help these packs stand out from the crowd.

Dandelion Kids

Being located in Vancouver means that rain is a big part of everyday living, so Dandelion Kids carries a good selection of rain boots from brands such as Kamik, Hunter and Hatley.

Dandelion Kids

In addition to great clothing and décor items, they also carry feeding gear, baby carriers, bath and body products… you name it! Their knowledgeable, friendly staff is happy to assist visitors with all of their baby and kid shopping needs.

You can check out Dandelion Kids’ great selection of products on their website, where shipping is free within Canada on orders of $100 or more!

If you’re lucky enough to live in (or visit) the lower mainland area, you can shop at either of their two retail locations. Be sure to check out the “Fun” section of their website first, though! It includes printable pages for kids to colour and, if you bring in a completed colouring page to either of their stores, you’ll receive 10% off your purchase plus a special treat for your child.
