For many Moms who work outside the home, being present for all of their child’s milestones is something they can only dream about. But for Lyndsay McCarty, opening her own store and bringing her baby to work everyday ensured she was able to witness every “first” firsthand. The resident of Medicine Hat, Alberta knew she was on to something when she couldn’t find the types of products she needed locally and decided to open a baby boutique – Bumbleboo – with her husband in 2008. At the time, their daughter was 10 months old, so she has grown up at the store…from breastfeeding and potty training to learning to walk and talk, it has been amazing for Lyndsay to see both of her “babies” grow up together!

Filling this need in her community has been a wonderful experience, too. Local residents have supported the business and love it so much that the store has had to move three times, to larger locations each time. There isn’t anything quite like it in Medicine Hat, offering quality products, great service, car seat installations, free gift wrap and more. Being at the store most of the time affords Lyndsay the opportunity to get to know her customers well. She takes a lot of suggestions for new products from customers, and the occasional special order too. Because she is so hands-on at her store, you’ll find warm service and attention to detail in spades. They even hosted their very first (free) sleep clinic in June, and are hoping to host more events in the future. As evidenced by their Facebook page, that has over 1,700 “likes”, they’ve got a lot of fans! And to thank them, Bumbleboo does a lot of random giveaways ‘just because’, which customers love.

If you visit Bumbleboo, the first thing you’ll notice is the well-curated stock lining the shelves. Every product is something that Lyndsay would use herself… the Uppababy Vista – she loves the way it looks and pushes and it has always been her favorite stroller; Baby JaR burp cloths and hooded towels that she has carried for years, are cute, fun, and something you won’t see in many Canadian stores; Mudpuppy products are beautiful and functional, with great visual appeal; andBoon products, all with cutting edge designs and a modern aesthetic. She is proud to be the exclusive retailer for Stokkeand Padraig in the area, and loves finding new, innovative items like the Inglesina Fast Table Chair and all-natural CJ’s Butter products that aren’t carried in many other stores. In fact, Bumbleboo has carried quite a few products before anyone had even heard of them. In addition to baby items, she also carries a fantastic selection of toys and gifts for children of all ages, backpacks, lunch boxes and so much more! (Take a peek at Bumbleboo’s Facebook photo album for some standout products from the past few years.)

One element is consistent throughout the store – quality. It’s something Lyndsay strives for and knows her customers appreciate.

If you’re in the Medicine Hat area, you need to check out this amazing boutique! And, if you want to see some of the amazing products they carry, visit Bumbleboo’s Facebook page.
