When I first stumbled across the website of this month’s featured boutique, I was in the midst of doing some online shopping for toys. However, despite its name, Angellina’s Toy Boutique is anything but just a toy store!
Angellina’s Toy Boutique is an award winning children’s store located in beautiful Whitehorse, Yukon. Often, stores located outside of large, urban centres suffer from a lack of selection, but not Angellina’s! In fact, it’s quite the contrary.
Their product lineup is impressive by any standard, including notables like Hape, Stonz Wear, Playmobil, Skip Hop, P’kilino, Djeco, OXO Tot, Bumbleride, and Plan Toys. Angellina’s carries over 100 different brands from companies and craftspeople around the world, which often elicits compliments from customers visiting from larger cities. They often comment that you’d have to scour many children’s stores to find even half of the products that are available at Angellina’s – and they still manage to have items you just can’t even find in other stores! They sell everything you’d need to carry you (and your baby) through from pre-pregnancy to childhood – maternity and nursing accessories, baby carriers, clothes, shoes, potty training and diapering products, Grobag sleep sacks (an indispensible item – love ‘em), nursery décor, gear for mealtime and bath time, as well as items for older kids like games, crafts/activity kits and dress-up costumes. You name it – they’ve (probably) got it!! Some of my favourite picks include Bella Tunno Smarty Smocks,Beatrix NY backpacks and whimsical Djeco rice paper lanterns (available in princess, amazon, pirates and more).
While their more mainstream brands are impressive, it’s the less common and unique finds that are made by local craftspeople and up-and-coming artisans that add a special touch of magic. You’ll find lovely homegrown items such as Georgianna’s famous Quilty Pants, Jackjack & Boo snack bags, beautiful Carlie Beads, Yukon Grace tutus and Annalie Banana Tree handmade hats. Angellina’s is proud to have such wonderful relationships with their local suppliers and, in fact, many of these Yukon artists create unique prints and designs that are exclusive to them!
Their relationships extend far beyond just working with local artists, though.
Angellina’s has taken an active role in their community and has shown their care and commitment in numerous ways, including: adopting a playroom at the local Child Development Center; sponsoring eight children’s soccer teams in 2012; and as a major sponsor of the Literacy Center’s Book Bike.
Angellina’s works hard to always carry the latest products – or the next great products that are just waiting to be discovered. In turn, the store decor and products are constantly changing, and the staff, who are all exceptionally qualified, pride themselves on providing excellent customer service. The store has a baby gift registry (“Angellina’s Celebrates Baby”) that is extremely popular, too – parents receive an amazing gift box filled with fantastic free products when they register! (Who doesn’t love free stuff?)
Angellina’s truly is a northern Canadian gem… but you don’t need to live in the Yukon to shop their fabulous store! Take a look at their website and follow them on Facebook, Twitter and Pinterest to find out more, and get exclusive updates about promotions and events.
