I love Netflix, not only because I like the wide range of viewing choices, but because it has so many *original* shows that you just can’t find anywhere else. From Julie’s Greenroom (a hit with little kids) to 13 Reasons Why (a thought-provoking show for teens), every member of the family is sure to find something they love.

As a member of the Netflix StreamTeam, I’ll be sharing some of my picks, and other families’ favourites, throughout the year. I love getting recommendations from moms and dads in the know, and I hope you’ll find them helpful, too.

This month, I asked some of my favourite Canadian bloggers what their kids love to watch, and why. Here’s what they said…

“My 5-year-old’s fave show right now on Netflix is Power Rangers Samurai, from what feels like fifty years ago. Lol! He has re-watched all the episodes at least ten times and they even have a special Halloween one. He also loves Wild Ones and Growing up Wild (we have watched this show together four times; it’s so cute!).”

~ Carla, Working Mommy Journal

“My kids are obsessed with the Spider-Man cartoon on Netflix – the one from the 90s. I remember watching this series when I was younger! The action is great and storyline all weaves together well. There’s also Ultimate Spider-Man that we like…it’s funny!”

~ Rebecca, Bit of Momsense

“My 7-year-old twin boys love all Lego, Marvel and Justice League shows because they are fun, entertaining and they can recreate them with their own Lego.

~ Kerrie, Family Food and Travel

“My child’s favourite show is The Mr Peabody and Sherman Show. The Mr. Peabody & Sherman Show is an animated series that chronicles the continued adventures of a time-traveling genius dog and his human son in the form of a talk show. The reason I love this show is that it teaches my kids historical events in a funny and interesting way, as well as shows them how they influenced life as we know it. It presents notable people and events in a way that’s appealing for kids. It has brought on many conversations about history, science and politics. It’s a great way to get kids thinking!”

~ Jenn, 1Heart1Family

“Our daughter Cadence loves Victorious, as it relates to young girls, can be silly and is age appropriate. A great show for ages 8 – 14.”

~ Matthew, Answer The Tullyphone

“My older kids’ favourite Netflix shows are Teen Titans Go and Dragons: Race to The Edge and my youngest (a toddler) loves Paw Patrol.”

~ Jessica, 4 The Love Of Mommy

“My 18-year-old daughter says Girlboss is her current fav, but she will always love The 100, Riverdale and The OA.”

~ Carin, Eclectic Soapbox

“My 6-year-old son loves Teen Titans. You may even find yourself cracking up while watching this show. But, there are good messages in the show and it comes up at the best times, like the dinner table. We have discussed marriage, love and feelings of being left out, which have all come directly from watching that show. It’s subtle, but it’s there.”

~ Kyla, Mommy’s Weird

Cathy, from Cathy Thinking Out Loud, knows that kids often want to watch grown-up shows that may not be appropriate for them, so she’s come up with her own ‘alternative’ list that will make your tween very happy! Check it out here.

Did any of your child(ren)’s favourite shows end up on this list? We’d love to hear what shows are popular in your house, so let us know in the comments below.

Many thanks to all the wonderful parent bloggers who contributed to this post. 😊
